Most biteing dogs give a warning & therefore need to be socialized early inorder to learn that, the typical approach of a person is not a threat to them, but a positive experience. Godd basic training will eliminate this problem in most cases.
Most dogs that distruct are bored like the barkers. Give Fido his own toy to destroy. They simply love to chew. Using a crate while away with a godd "all day dog chew" is a perfect way to save your furniture, shoes & favorite things. He will eeventually learn with your help to differentiate "yours" from "his". Working, busy families should carefully take into consideration that dogs are "pack" animals, even though they are domesticated pets. Having two dogs when you must leave your dog alone for hours in a yard ofen not only elimnates or lessons barking, but often supresses other problems.
WRONG! Many of these either die from starvation, getting hit in traffic, being shot by a farmer, poisoned or picked up by an agency that has no choise but to "kill" them in whatever manner perscribed for them by their government. Why couldn't the owner spend the time & the money to have them mercifully euthanized by a veterinarian? First of all, Abandonment is a crime in most municipalities & fortunately Springfield, Mo. has included an anti-abandonment ordinance to their local laws. Secondly, why are these pet owners not more causious with regard to choosing a pet?
There is a time and place for everything and buying a pet or adopting one should only happen if the prospective pet owner has the proper, legal place to own one. Many a pet is abandoned because the pet owner violated the landlord's rules regarding pets & then got caught, so the pet became the victim.
